The Woodlands is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a week-long series of events in October. Here's the breakdown of all the exciting activities planned:
Monday, October 14: Kick-off Start the week with proclamations from state, regional, and local officials. We'll also be dedicating a time capsule to commemorate this historic milestone. It's the perfect way to kick off the celebrations!
Tuesday, October 15: Day of Giving Philanthropy is at the heart of The Woodlands. Interfaith of The Woodlands, our first nonprofit organization, is collaborating to provide volunteer opportunities and ways to give back to the community. Keep an eye out for more details early this fall.
Wednesday, October 16: Tree Dedication Environmental stewardship is a big part of our community. A significant 1,000-gallon hardwood tree will be dedicated at Northshore Park. Plus, each residential village will plant a 100-gallon tree in partnership with the Village Associations, reinforcing our commitment to greenspace.
Thursday, October 17: Mural Unveiling Art lovers, this one's for you! A new mural along The Woodlands Waterway will be unveiled, showcasing the impact of the arts in our community. The mural, created by a local artist selected in collaboration with The Woodlands Art Council, is sure to be a highlight.
Friday, October 18: 50th Concert Celebration, presented by Howard Hughes Join us for a free concert at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, headlined by Lyle Lovett and his Large Band, with Hayes Carll as the opening act. This top-ranked outdoor amphitheater will be the perfect venue for an unforgettable night of music. Don't forget to register for priority access to tickets!
Saturday, October 19: Grand Public Celebration The big day is here! October 19 marks the actual 50th anniversary of The Woodlands. Celebrate with a grand public extravaganza at Northshore Park, Hughes Landing Band Shell, and Town Green Park. This free, family-friendly event will end with a spectacular high-tech drone and fireworks show, lighting up the sky above Lake Woodlands.
