Many of Conroe’s older neighborhoods, built before 2005, offer mature trees, spacious lots, and a variety of architectural styles. Whether you're drawn to lower tax rates, historic charm, or a well-established community feel, these areas have something special to offer. Here are some of the notable ones:
1. Walden on Lake Conroe
Walden on Lake Conroe, developed in the 1970s, is one of Montgomery’s most well-known lakefront communities. It features waterfront homes, golf course properties, and townhomes. 2. Bentwater
Bentwater is a luxury gated community on Lake Conroe that began development in the 1990s. It features custom homes, waterfront properties, and golf course residences. The community includes three golf courses, a yacht club, a marina, and country club amenities. Homes for Sale – Link
3. April Sound
April Sound, a gated lakefront community, was established in the 1970s and continued developing into the early 2000s. It offers single-family homes, condos, and townhomes. 4. Del Lago

5. Cape Conroe
