10 Fun Things to Do This Fall in Sugar Land, Texas
Drive through the Fall foliage
McKinney Falls State Park – 5808 McKinney Falls Pkwy, Austin, TX 78744
Just less than three hours' drive from downtown Houston, this park is an excellent location for spotting foliage and enjoying a weekend getaway from the city. Also, there are 81 campsite options and activities such as hiking or biking in 9 miles of trails, fishing, swimming, bouldering, and picnicking.
- Enchanted Rock – 16710 Ranch Rd. 965 Fredericksburg, TX 78624
Enchanted Rock State Park is just 4 hours from Sugar Land, Texas. Visitors can hike 11 miles of trails, camp, bird watch, rock-climb, and stargaze there. The park also displays some foliage in the fall along with wildflowers in the spring.
Get Lost in Corn Maze
- Froberg's Farm – 3601 Hwy 6, Alvin, TX 77511
Froberg's Farm is a friendly destination, just 34 minutes away from this city. Experience the Annual Corn Maze and Fall Festival, featuring a new maze design, a flower garden, and attractions like Plastic Duck Races, Emoji Cannon, Friendly Fire, and the Bee Coaster, every weekend from September 21 to November 3, 2024, with the main event from October 14-22. Capture unique photo opportunities and enjoy family-friendly activities all season long!
- Dewberry Farm – 7705 FM 362 Brookshire, TX 77423
Enjoy Texas-sized fun with farm animals, delicious food, an 8-acre corn maze, and over 40 rides and attractions starting September 7 through November 3. Don’t miss our annual Fall Festival and the spooky evening event, BOOriffic Nights!
- Rocky Creek Maze – 784 Co Rd 251, Moulton, TX 77975, United States
If you're up for a little drive and looking for a fun-filled adventure, check out Rocky Creek Maze. It's two hours from Houston and has more than two and a half miles of paths winding through an 8-acre field of corn—and if you make it through the maze, you can try their haunted trail!
Go, Apple Picking
- Love Creek Orchards – 14024 TX-16 N, Medina TX 78055
Founded by a couple in 1981, this apple orchard offers apple picking, as well as other seasonal fruits. They even have a store & café where you can purchase tons of homemade goods & choose from a menu full of delicious southern comfort foods. During the fall there’s a pumpkin patch with farm animals, hay mazes, hayrides, fun games, and scarecrow building!
- Apple Valley Orchard – 12340 TX-16, Llano TX 78643
This orchard on 32 acres has over 500 trees for apple picking, as well as berries, peaches, figs, and other seasonal fruits. They also have an on-site store that sells homemade goods, local honey, ice cream, apple cider, pies, and much more. There are tons of different trees that bloom beautiful flowers that make for amazing views!

- Three Brothers Bakery – 4036 S Braeswood Blvd, Houston, TX 77025, United States
For over 60 years, this family-owned bakery has been baking custom cakes, pecan pies, and many other desserts. The shop is open Monday through Sunday from 7 am to 7 pm.
- Flying Saucer Pie Company – 436 W Crosstimbers St, Houston, TX 77018, United States
The stalwart family-run business serves hand-crafted fruit pies and banana pies in a warm setting that's open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 am to 7 pm.

Hike in a National Park
- Big Thicket National Preserve – FM 420, Kountze, TX 77625, United States
This is the only one that is a convenient day trip from the city, as it’s situated about an hour and 40 minutes away by car. Big Thicket protects a long, narrow preserve lining the banks of a few meandering creeks. This kind of environment consists of multiple interrelated habitats that attract a wide variety of wildlife. Among the nine different ecosystems in the park are pine forest, bayous, and wetlands. Popular activities here are kayaking, canoeing, and hiking. There are about 40 miles of hiking trails in the park.

Waco Mammoth National Monument one of the best national parks near Houston is where you can see a collection of “in situ” fossils, meaning that they’re still embedded in the place where they were originally discovered.
