Hi friend,
This upcoming week, I’ll be sharing a new video series designed specifically for people relocating to Houston for work — and I wanted to create a few short blog posts to go alongside it.
The first video in the series is:
“Relocating to Houston for Work? Start Here. (The Fast Guide You Actually Need)”
My goal with this series is simple:
to save you weeks of stress by helping you do two things in the right order.
First, make sure you’re working with the right relocation specialist and realtor.
Second, simplify the “where should I live?” decision — even if you haven’t narrowed down a specific city or suburb yet.
If you’re relocating to Houston (or one of its many suburbs) for work, feel overwhelmed by the options, or are trying to figure out who you can actually trust to guide you through this move, you’re in the right place at the right time.

A Quick Introduction
If we haven’t met yet, my name is Jordan Schilleci. My husband Edward and I own a boutique real estate brokerage based in the Houston suburbs, and we help people relocate to the Houston area every single week.
We specialize in working with serious professionals who don’t want to waste time, don’t want guesswork, and don’t want to be handed off to the wrong team. If your move is work-driven and time-sensitive, we understand that urgency — and we’re built to work on your timeline.
My goal isn’t just to help you buy a house.
It’s to help you land in the right place.

Houston ≠ One Market
This is where most people get stuck.
Most relocation buyers start on Zillow… and quickly get overwhelmed. That’s not because you’re doing anything wrong — it’s because Houston is not one market.
It’s dozens of different markets, each with its own lifestyle, price points, commute patterns, school districts, tax structures, and community feel.
Two homes that look similar on Zillow can feel like completely different lives once you’re actually living there.
That’s why choosing where to live in Houston has far less to do with scrolling listings — and far more to do with clarity.

The three decisions that actually matter
When someone is relocating to Houston for work, there are three decisions that matter far more than bedrooms or square footage.
1. Your commute corridor
Where you work — and how long you’re willing to commute — immediately narrows the map. Houston is spread out, and the right corridor can make daily life feel easy… or exhausting.
2. Lifestyle vs. budget
Houston gives you options. You can prioritize amenities, location, space, or value — but rarely all of them at once. Knowing what matters most to you simplifies everything else.
3. Your timeline
Are you moving in 30–60 days? 3–6 months? Just starting research?
Your timeline helps decide how aggressive we need to be, and is also important if you are looking at new construction.
This is why two people relocating for similar jobs can end up in entirely different suburbs — and both be happy.
You don’t need to know where you’re moving yet
One of the biggest misconceptions I see is this:
“I need to know exactly where I want to live before I talk to a realtor.”
You don’t.
What you need is someone who understands Houston well enough to help you narrow it down quickly and intentionally — without pressure.
That is where Edward and I step in, and typically, the first step in a phone call. I have created a new link to schedule a call with me. It includes the six short questions you will need to answer to help us head in the right direction during our phone call. You can find that link by clicking here.
What happens when you click the link
When you click the link to schedule a call, you’ll see a short questionnaire first. It isn’t meant to overwhelm you, and it isn’t a commitment — it’s simply a clarity tool.
Houston is a big place, and this helps us make sure our first conversation is actually productive for you.
These questions help us quickly understand:
- what you value most (location, lifestyle, or budget),
- how you picture your day-to-day life,
- your ideal commute,
- what features matter most in a home,
- your timeline,
- and your budget range.
Instead of spending the first 20 minutes of our call guessing or asking surface-level questions, this allows us to walk into the conversation already oriented — so we can focus on guidance, strategy, and real options that fit your move.

Why this matters for work-driven relocationsWhen a move is tied to a job, time matters. Decisions matter. And clarity matters even more. Two people relocating to Houston for similar roles can end up in completely different suburbs — not because one is “better,” but because their priorities are different. This questionnaire helps us identify that early, before you waste time touring areas that don’t actually fit your life. You don’t need to know where you’re moving yet. You just need to know what matters most to you.
We’ll help you connect the dots. What to expect after you submit it
Once you submit the questionnaire and book your call, I’ll review your answers ahead of time so our conversation is actually helpful. When we talk, we’ll:
- narrow down the right areas to focus on,
- talk through commute realities,
- discuss timing and strategy,
- and outline next steps that make sense for your relocation.
No pressure. No rushing. Just clarity.
If you’re relocating to Houston for work
If your move is coming up and you want help from people who do this every week — people who understand Houston’s many markets and how to match them to real lives — we’d love to help.
You don’t have to have it all figured out.
You just have to take the first step.
My goal isn’t just to be your realtor, but your resource.
