Hi there. If you're planning on a move to The Woodlands or even just coming for a visit you'll probably want to know what the commute is like from here to downtown Houston. We're only 30 miles north of Houston and have a few different options on how to get there!
Routes
- Highway I-45 will get you there in 35 minutes and has no tolls., there's often traffic which lengthens the commute.
- The Hardy Toll road will get you there in about the same time & avoids possible highway traffic.
- Grand Parkway Toll road is slightly newer and gets you to Houston in about 40 minutes with minimal traffic.
- There's also 3 different Park & Rides in The Woodlands area that will take you to Downtown Houston in a spacious & comfortable bus if you don't want to put the miles on your car. You can purchase round trip tickets & passes. I'll share a link with more information below.

The commute is typically 45 minutes with regular traffic but can be much longer during rush hour or if there's an accident, but luckily there are multiple ways of getting there when other routes are backed up.
