Lone Star Monument & Historical Flag Park – This is great park if you enjoy history as it showcases 13 flags from the 1830’s Texas Revolution. In the center of the park is 14 foot “Texian” sculpture made by a local artist!

Carl Barton Jr. Park – There’s much to do at this 201 acre park, they have soccer & baseball fields, a large pond for fishing, covered playground for the kids and a few nature trails!

Candy Cane Park – I’ve saved the best for last with this park. This 24 acre park offers multiple playgrounds and an aquatic center, if you have kids they’ll be in heaven here. And if you need to relax there’s picnic areas near the aquatic center, and some calming trails to walk through!

The Lone Star Monument & Historical Flag Park – The Lone Star Monument and Historical Flag Park is the perfect place to learn about all the flags in Texas history. Dr. Charles B. Stewart of Montgomery created the Lone Star Flag in 1839, which is our state flag today.

Heritage Museum of Montgomery County – The museum features exhibits about Dr. Charles B. Stewart, who created the Lone Star flag and served as the first Secretary of State to the Republic of Texas. Children can try on period clothing and play games from the 19th century.

Huntsville State Park – If you’re wanting a nature filled day of adventure, this 2,000 acre state park is the spot to be. Completely surrounded by tall shady trees, you can walk or bike on the many winding trails & do guided horse back riding trips. There’s a large lake where you can fish, swim in the designated swimming area, & rent kayaks, canoes, or paddleboats. They have an on site shop for a variety of needs, plenty of helpful staff, and camp grounds if you decide to stay the night.

7 Acre Wood – The park offers an assortment of old-fashioned attractions, including swings, putt putt golf, a petting zoo and pony rides.

The Blue Lagoon: This is a stunning lagoon in Huntsville nestled in the woods. The water is so clear that you’ll be dying to jump in as soon as you get there. When you go you rent a spot for the day & can bring whatever you like(except glass) to make your day comfortable, like lounge chairs, floaties, coolers full of food & drinks, etc. You can also opt to do scuba tours guided by trained professionals while you’re there.

Margaritaville Lake Resort – You can rent a day pass here to enjoy the water but you’ll probably wind up wanting to stay the night. Located right on the lake, this resort has a beyond amazing pool area with 3 separate pools, children’s areas, a swim up bar, lazy river, water slides, cabana rentals, and even a beach entrance area into the lake.

Franklin Drive Thru Safari – If your an animal lover then you’ll be amazed by this drive through safari full of amazing exotic animals.
