It is a pretty known fact that you can’t escape the heat in Texas, and that’s why we are here to help you navigate your way around to stay cool. In the midst of the charming city of The Woodlands, the winding flow of The Waterway offers an abundance of shops, restaurants, and activities for all to do. Exploring it with your family and friends is a great way to be outside in the fresh air. We are sharing a handful of activities to do with your kids to cool down a bit around The Waterway.
We are starting right across the street from The Waterway at Market Street!
Splash Pad at Market Street
Make sure to grab the swimsuits and swim shorts because this splash pad is conveniently located at the very heart of Market Street overlooking the lawn. Your legs will need a rest after shopping and this is the perfect place to sit down in the shade and let the kids run around. Who knows, maybe you will even join them in running through the water!
After you’re done splashing around at Market Street, walk across Lake Robbins Drive to Town Green Park. You’ll be greeted by a spacious lawn where you can throw a frisbee or relax and have a picnic. Just as you start walking along the path, you’ll have the chance to enter the Story Book Maze.
Story Book Maze at Town Green Park
Strolling through this winding maze, you will want to pause and read some excerpts from Aesop's fables. A few of the select fables include, “The North Wind and The Mighty Sun” along with “The Cat, the Rooster and a Mouse”. Make sure not to get lost as you navigate your way around the 3-foot tall barriers.
Towards the back of the park, you’ll see The Waterway with Riva Row Boat House right there waiting for you.
Riva Row Boat House
Cruise along the water of Lake Woodlands with your family! Choose from single or tandem kayaks, paddle boards, water bikes or swan boats to get out on the cool water. This is a favorite activity to do as the boats and boards rent out quickly! It’s a great opportunity to see a part of The Woodlands from the water.
When you’re done paddling your heart away, take a 15 minute walk along the waterway towards The Woodlands Waterway Square, where there is another splash pad and beautiful fountains to enjoy.
The Woodlands Waterway Square
While there are great restaurants lining the square, you will find another splash pad for everyone to cool off! There are some shaded spots to get out of the sun and relax while listening to the peaceful sound of the water fountains around. If you are needing to release some musical creativity and show your talent, there is a colorful xylophone bench waiting to be played.
We hope you take advantage of the wonderful activities surrounding The Waterway and spend the day with your kids and family outside in the beautiful weather! Don't forget to document your fun, and tag us at @jordanschilleci or @byjoandco on Instagram!
