Hi friend. Houston has some really great neighborhoods, so today I'd like to go over them and share all that they have to offer. If you're planning on a move to Houston, this list should be super helpful! And don't forget to check out the video below.
Afton Oaks – Upscale inner loop community of about 525 homes. Shopping: Galleria, Highland Village and River Oaks District. Afton Oaks contains many single story ranch homes built in the 1950s. In recent years, like other neighborhoods with a close-in location, significant new home construction has started to replace these original homes. Partly because of rising land values, these new builds are typically in excess of the million dollar price point. There's also lots of nearby bars & restaurants. Afton Oaks is just east of the Galleria, and its borders are West Loop I-610, Southwest Freeway 59, and Westheimer.
River Oaks – Inner loop community between Downtown and Uptown. In 2013 it was named the most expensive neighborhood in Houston. It's home to the River Oaks Country Club and has great shopping areas, restaurants, and parks.
Briargrove – Briargrove was established in the 50s with one-story ranch style homes. It wasn't until 1986 that1 1/2 and 2 story homes were allowed. Many homes have been torn down for new construction. Located near Uptown.
Briarcroft – This neighborhood dating back to the 1950's is located in the galleria area, near memorial park and is full of beautiful trees and has easy access to many shopping, entertainment, and dining options.
Garden Oaks – Garden Oaks was established in 1937 making it one of Houston's older neighborhoods. Many of the streets are lined with Oak Pecan and Pine trees. A variety of different types of homes can be found in this neighborhood.
Heights and Greater Heights – One of my favorite areas of town. I love the heights because of its walkability, and the plethora of restaurants and night life nearby.
Memorial West – So many different communities can be found within Memorial West. I really love Memorial Green, Memorial Hollow, and Memorial Pines.
Southgate – Easy access to Rice Village & Rice University, and it's within walking distance to the Med Center.
Tangle Wood – This is my favorite neighborhood to drive around in during Christmas time to see lots of festive decor. It has easy access to the Galleria and is filled with beautiful homes.
West U – Montclair and Sunset Terrace are my top choices for communities here. There's easy access to Buffalo Speedway and is close to Rice Village.
I hope this list has helped in some way, I've also linked a recent YouTube video below discussing this topic!
