Hi friends, today I'd like to talk about the quaint & friendly city of Montgomery. With a population of 1,500 it's easy to feel right at home here in this city full of history, and you don't need to venture far out to find lots of exciting things to do or fantastic places to eat!
Places to Experience in Montgomery
–1097 Water Sports: Spend some time on Lake Conroe on your watercraft of choice. They offer so many different styles of boats, including party boats, canoes, kayaks, jet skis and stand up paddle boards. You can also rent inflatables for tubing behind the boat!
–P-6 Farms: You can enjoy your day here picking fresh berries or walking through the beautiful sunflower field. There's seasonal activities as well, such as the fall festival & pumpkin patch so be sure to check their website for more details!
–Whitley Vineyards Wine Bar: Located in the Historic district, this place both charming & fun. You can sample some of their hand crafted wines while listening to live music, they do many different events like karaoke & open mic night too!
–Longview Greens Miniature Golf: This Texas themed 18 hole mini golf course looks like a work of art and is loads of fun. They also have a Jazzy's Icy Treats on site with soft serve ice cream & 40+ flavors of shaved ice!
–Heritage Museum of Montgomery County: Montgomery is full of interesting history, including being the birth place of the Lone Star flag. Here you'll get to learn all about how people lived when they first settled here in the early 1800's and how the city of Montgomery came to be!
Restaurants in Montgomery
–Cozy Grape: Upscale American food with an extensive wine list & lovely covered patio.
–Uncle Bob's BBQ: Local favorite classic barbecue, their personal line of sauces are for sale there as well.
–Cafe on the Green: Traditional dishes with a gorgeous views of the Walden golf course.
–Little Acorn: Health conscious, bakery items for sale such as pies & cakes, natural and light interior.
–Akashi: Asian cuisine with large sushi menu, patio seating that over looks Lake Conroe.
Parks in Montgomery
–Fernland Historical Park: This interactive, educational park in downtown Montgomery has some of the oldest log homes & cabins and shows you what it was really like living in the early 1800's. Employees dressed in traditional colonial clothing show you hands on how they churned butter, made & washed clothes, and cooked back when Montgomery was first settled!
–Memory Park: Offering multiple walking paths and a botanical garden, this park on the water is very peaceful. They have a pavilion & benches for relaxing, and a large pond surrounded by waterfalls!
–Cedar Break Park: A 5 acre park containing century old cedar trees and tranquil walking trails. There's also a playground for children, benches & barbecues, a volleyball court, and a pavilion!
–John Burge Park: This 39 acre park has so much to offer, including scenic trails, a learning center, shaded picnic area, and a large playground. You can also utilize their 18 hole disc golf course!
–Lake Conroe Park: If you're wanting to get some time on the lake, this park is the perfect option. You can fish or enjoy the water in the beach entry, roped off swimming section. There's barbecues, picnic areas, and a playground as well!
