BatFest at Houston Arboretum & Nature Center | Sept 23, 2023 – 10:00 am to 2:00pm
Enjoy bat-themed activities and crafts for the kids, a captivating story time, delicious food trucks, and a meaningful blood drive in collaboration with Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center. It's all free, no need to register, and we welcome participants of all ages!
Fall Fest at Sugar Land Town Square | Sept 23, 2023 – 10:00 am to 3:00 pm
At Sugar Land Fall Fest, you'll have a blast with live music, hayrides, face painting, an artisan market, fall-themed photo spots, games, and a corn maze. Plus, explore engaging sponsor booths featuring One Medical, AFC Urgent Care, CLS Health, Rodeo Dental, Resort Vacations, Renewal By Anderson, Board and Brush Creative, Kinetic by Windstream, Russian School of Math, Houston Methodist SL, Baylor College of Medicine, GoApe, and HEB.
Mid-Autumn Festival at Asia Society Texas Center | Sept 30, 2023 – 10:00 am to 2:00pm
Enjoy the Mid-Autumn Festival featuring Taiwanese artists, photography, storytelling, and fun art activities like lantern-making, paper cutting, and creating faux mooncakes. It's free to attend, and you can register online or upon walk-in!
Zoo Boo at Houston Zoo | Sept 29 – Oct 31, 2023 – 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Enjoy the pumpkin arch at the Reflection Pool, a pumpkin tree, animal-themed pumpkins, and more for great photo ops. Walk through a pumpkin lantern tunnel near the lion exhibit. Even the animals will join the fun with fall-themed enrichment like pumpkins, cinnamon-scented “paw-zzles,” and other treats.
Fort Bend County Fair & Rodeo at FBCF Rosenberg – Sept 29 – Oct 8, 2023
Experience rodeo action, livestock shows, live music, a big carnival with rides for all ages, and a mouthwatering selection of fair food at this event. Please note there's an admission fee: Adults – $15 at the gate or $12 online plus a $2 fee, Children ages 6-11 – $5, and Children 5 & under get in for free!
Greek Festival Houston at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathdral – Oct 5 – 7, 2023
Delight in Greek food, wine tastings, dancing, games, and other family-friendly fun at this event. Admission is $5, and it's free for those aged 12 and under.
Fall Fest at Buchanan's Native Plants – Oct 7, 2023
This family-friendly event features food trucks, live music, kids' crafts, local vendors, hayrides, and more! Best of all, it's completely free for everyone to enjoy!
Oktoberfest at Sugar Land Town Square’s – Oct 7, 2023
The event boasts a Flying Saucer Biergarten with 50 brews, a Boho Market featuring 50 local artisans, live music from Electric Circus and Eurofest, German and Oktoberfest-inspired dishes by local favorites, fun games like the Dachshund Dash and stein races, plus entertainment like tarot card readers, caricature artists, jugglers, and stilt walkers.
Spooktacular at Tomball Depot Plaza – Oct 7, 2023 – 4:00pm to 9:00pm
Enjoy an array of activities including games, bounce houses, face painting, food, music, and a pumpkin photo booth starting at 4 PM. As dusk approaches, settle in with your chairs and blankets for an outdoor screening of “Hocus Pocus” at around 7 p.m. It's a night of family fun you won't want to miss!

Buffalo Bayou Park, just a five-minute drive from our Downtown Houston, is the closest spot for fall leaf-peeping. With 160 acres of urban green space, you can witness stunning autumn hues in various tree species like Bald Cypress, Cottonwood, White Oak, and more. While Live Oaks are prevalent, they shed their evergreen foliage in winter, making way for vibrant spring growth. Don't miss the children's playground and skate park, making it a family-friendly destination. Open daily from 6 am to 11 pm, and best of all, it's free!
2. Lost Maples State Natural Area – 37221 RM 187, Vanderpool, TX 78885, United States
If you're up for a 4.5-hour drive from downtown Houston, Lost Maples State Park awaits you. This scenic destination offers the perfect opportunity to witness the vibrant yellows, oranges, and reds of the bigtooth maples. Beyond the stunning foliage, you can immerse yourself in hiking, bird and wildlife watching, photography, or simply unwind while stargazing and enjoying the tranquility.
One of the park's highlights is a loop trail that takes hikers along the edge of a remarkable 2,200-square-foot cliff, providing breathtaking views.

This sprawling 445-acre park beckons with hiking, cycling, fishing, pedal boating, golf, and even a visit to the Houston Zoo. With approximately 10,000 trees, some almost a century old, including Crape Myrtle, Bald Cypress, Cedar Elm, Red Bud, and various Oak species, it transforms into a colorful wonderland in the fall. Entry is free, except for the Houston Zoo, pedal boat rentals, and train rides.
